Colorado Workmates Win Powerball!

CASTLE ROCK, Colorado — These workmates are now $1,000,000 wealthier!

Well, almost. 14 people from an aerospace industry office pool hit the million-dollar prize! The winners hail from all over Colorado and beyond– Centennial, Denver, Castle Rock, and even Wyoming. Each person in the group will get about $25,000 after taxes.

Now the fun question remains– how will these “Space Cadets” spend their winnings? The Colorado Lottery says everyone has their own plans for the cash, ranging from traveling and home renovating, to contributing to a daughter’s wedding.

These friends and coworkers have been participating in this lottery tradition for many years, continuing to play together even though some members have retired or moved on. There are some stipulations when they play though: the group will only snag a ticket when the jackpot reaches more than a $100 million cash out, and they always choose quick picks.

The Colorado Lottery says this lucky quick pick was bought at the 7-Eleven in the Promenade at Castle Rock.

This time around, from the drawing on March 26th, they only missed the Powerball number. This means they had five out of six numbers. If they had hit that final number, the jackpot they’d be taking home would be worth $181,000,000. The cash prize equivalent is $118,000,000.

For now, the group will take their significant winnings home, and continue playing the game in the future.

Congratulations to the “Space Cadets”! Time to buy a lotto ticket?!
