PARK COUNTY, Colorado — PSYCH! These fluffy bois won’t huff and puff and blow your house down… They just might shed all over it.

On Monday, the Park County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook about a possible wolf sighting. Turns out, it was a group of Saint Bernard dogs who got loose from a family’s yard.

The Sheriff’s Office says the possible wolf sighting happened near Highway 285 and County Road 5, south of Fairplay.

The sheriff’s office, along with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, investigated the “sighting.”

During the investigation, CPW and the sheriff’s office learned that five St. Bernard dogs in the area have a history of escaping their enclosure. On that particular day, they decided to go on a freedom run,

The video of the possible wolf sighting was taken from a very long distance and the lighting, along with shadows, made it tough to decipher what type of large, four-legged animals were running near an elk herd, according to the sheriff’s office.

CPW flew an airplane over the area on Wednesday morning and did not see any evidence of wolves or injured or deceased elk.

So the wolf sighting turned out to be a false alarm, but the dog owner was cited by Park County Animal Control for letting their pack run loose in a similar incident on April 23.

Hope that little freedom run was worth it, big pups!
